The pre-forming chamber is located just behind the pickup allowing for hay to be continually fed into the chamber. While the plunger is in its back stroke, a set of stuffer fingers pushes the hay from the pre-forming chamber into the bale chamber in front of the plunger. The plunger then pushes the flake forward cutting it from the bottom with the plunger knives forming a bale flake.

The pre-forming chamber concept allows the plunger to travel a shorter distance while forming a bale. The short 21.7” plunger stroke on the Models 1835, 1837, and 1839 along with 23” on the 1841 and 21.9” on the 1843S and1843N. This reduces wear on the plunger and plunger rollers by as much as 30% over competitive models.

To help ensure the efficient operation of the knotters, an optional cleaning fan has been introduced to ensure debris is blown clear. This will be available only as part of the new “High Performance Package” kit, which will also include hydraulic bale tension.
Bale Density can be preset with a gauge on the baler. The baler will then keep bale density constant even as hay moisture conditions change through the day. This eliminates constant density changes associated with a spring tension system and eliminates the need for the operator to get on and off the tractor all day.
